Licensed Occupational Therapy Assistant

Job Title: IL State Licensed Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant
Reports To: Occupational Therapist
Supervises: Not Applicable

Required Qualifications:  
1.    A person who is licensed as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant under the Illinois Occupational Therapy Practice Act (225 ILCS 75).

General Description of Job:
To provide medically prescribed occupational therapy services for children ages birth to three who are participating in the Illinois Early Intervention Program under the direction and supervision of a qualified Occupational Therapist in accordance with the physician’s Plan of Care, company policies and professional standards of practice, to improve the quality of life.

Technical / Professional Skills:
1.    Current knowledge of principles and practice of occupational therapy.
2.    Knowledge of client teaching techniques.
3.    Knowledge of home care industry.

1.    Carry out the occupational therapy plan of care including exercise/treatment programs, functional activities and family education to improve functional abilities and activities of daily living.
2.    Instruct, motivate and assist client/caregiver/family with a home program of exercises and self-care activities.
3.    Observe, record and report to the Occupational Therapist and/or physician the progress, client response and/or changes in condition.
4.    Prepare documentation for the client’s clinical record in compliance with company policies, state/federal regulations and professional standards of practice.
5.    Coordinate care by communicating with team members, both verbally and written and attending case conferences and meetings as necessary.
6.    Participate in quality assurance activities as suggested by supervising personnel.
7.    Participate in in-service education programs as requested.
